i believe that too much of a good thing can be wonderful and that one's style should prove it. i live, love, and dress accordingly.

the perfect sandal for the girl who hates how boring and tacky most sandals are.

ok. there are few things i find more tricky and restrictive than summer footwear for the city gal (see also: jeans, but we'll get to those some other time, i promise). for a woman-on-the-loose like myself, wearing what best suits my personality doesn't always best suit walking to the subway (the mcqueen armadillo heels anyone?). fall and winter boots and wedges offer comfortable and stylized options for wandering the concrete jungle, but for summer balancing eccentricity and practicality can be a lot more tricky (they're more comfy than they look, i swear). the same goes for sandals, which are homely by their very nature of bare-footed-ness. so a glamazon like myself is left with searching for something, um, a little more FLASHY for her gams without running the risk of being bejeweled to tacky oblivion.

my solution to a comfortable, light, but glamorous and affordable sandal: (i know you thought affordable,  glamorous sandal was an oxymoron, didn't you?) these cynthia rowley for roxy "sea urchin sandals" that i scored at her bucktown boutique for a cool 80 bucks). with the spunk of a dallas cheerleader's pom-pom and the decadence of the crushed velvet curtain ties at her grandparent's mansion, they're comfortable enough to walk soho in the heat but stylish enough to be caught wearing in soho. you digz? i love them. the sold out completely of the s/s collection last season so keep your eye on the prize and your fingers-crossed. (or go buy the biggest curtain tie back you can find and make your own...no?)
